Class 83 (3) The milling and boring machine of the parent Specification is provided with means for locking the pivoted arm 34 to its support 32 consisting of a cotter engaging mortices in a tenon and a yoke-piece secured on the two members. The slide 32, is mounted on a column 6 which is adjustable in two directions by slides 2, 4. The column also carries the boring head 8. The head 34, Fig. 4, carries a tenon 67 adjusted by a washer 72 which engages in a yoke-piece 73 carried by the slide 32. A bar 63 passing through a bore in the yoke carries a cotter 84 which engages mortices in the members 67, 73. Three groups 56 ... 58, Fig. 2, of such clamping devices are provided and spring washers 116, Fig. 8, permit each bolt to be forced fully home. The head 34 may also be clamped to the boring head 8 by similar groups of yoke-and-tenon devices 88, 106 each locked by a cotter 114. The two heads 8, 34 are formed with surfaces 104, 105 to assist in supporting the weight of the overhanging parts. The tenons 106 may be swung to lie flush with the head by a handle 112. The four groups of clamping devices are each operated by a hydraulic piston such as 123, Fig. 8. Separate remotely-controlled electric motors and pumps are provided for actuating the locking of the head 34 to the slide 32 and to the head 8. Similar locking means are provided for locking the slide 34 to the column 6 in an inoperative position, the tenon being provided on a bracket secured to the column.
