346,612. Drilling-machines. WERKZEUGMASCHINENFABRIK OERLIKON, Oerlikon, Switzerland. June 4, 1930, No. 17204. Convention date, June 6, 1929. [Class 83 (iii).] In radial-arm drilling-machines having an additional support for the end of the arm 4 on which the tool head 6 is movable, the support comprises an arcuate pedestal 3 bolted to the baseplate 2, and having an upper bearing surface for rollers 13 carried by a hollow shaft 9 on which the clamping sleeve 8 is vertically slidable. Vertical movement is effected from an electric motor M<1> and worm S through a shaft 11 and screwed spindles 51, 52, a wing nut 22 operating a worm and worm wheel for small relative adjustments of the right-hand sleeve. The shaft 9 is clamped to the pedestal by electromagnetically operated cams or by spring-pressed cams released by electromagnetic means.
