Abstract

591,206. Indexing ; work - holders. GROSSMAN, A. May 2, 1945, No. 11136. [Class 83 (iii)] An indexing - head comprises an indexing - plate rotatably mounted on and removably clamped to a flange of a spoolshaped base which is axially bored. The indexing-plate 34 is located, by means of a bush 35 in the bore of the base, and has an indexing station 37 to align successively with a series of registering holes by means of a locking-pin 39 in the base, and is clamped in position by T-headed bolts 49. T-slots are also provided in the upper face of the plate for the work clamping bolts 54. The device is located in working position relative to the machine spindle by using pluggauges in the bore of the bush 35 and the machine spindle, with slip-gauges between the plugs. The axial bore in the base may be used for locating the head off-centre when milling a cam face of circular form.
