Abstract
699,846. Gas turbine plant. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBERG AKT.-GES. March 13, 1952 [March 13, 1951], No. 6603/52. Class 110(iii) [Also in Group XXVII] Cooling of a turbine 15, driven by exhaust gases from an internal combustion engine 1, and which may power a blower 17 supplying air or combustible mixture to the engine, is effected by temporarily re-opening an engine exhaust valve or valves 5 during the compression stroke of the engine piston 2 to pass some of the unburnt engine charge to the turbine. As shown, valves 5 deliver through pipes 7 the initial engine exhaust gases to a first turbine stage 10 and a valve 6 delivers the final exhaust gases to a second turbine stage 14.
