Abstract

694,409. Fluid-actuated valves. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. Dec. 4, 1951 [Dec. 5, 1950], No. 28438/51. Class 135 [Also in Group XXXIV] A two-way check valve for use in the master cylinder of a hydraulic braking system consists of an apertured rigid disc 40 over which is stretched a centrally apertured resilient member 42 of rubber, and a spring 52 urging the resilient member on to a seat 34. The apertures 58 in the disc 40 are offset with respect to the aperture 56 in the resilient member so that flow from the master cylinder to the wheel cylinders takes place by deflection of the resilient member away from the disc 40, and in the reverse direction by movement of the resilient member against the spring away from the seal 34. The resilient member has longitudinal grooves 60 in its periphery and a lip 54 to grip the spring.
