Abstract
490,779. Hydraulic transmission of power. AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS CO., Ltd., and BROCK, D. T. April 10, 1937, No. 10297. [Class 69 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXIV] In hydraulic transmission, particularly for brakes, in which the master cylinder 1 is connected to the reservoir 2 by a valve 16, closed by the initial brake application movement of the brake piston 4, the .stem 17 of the valve passes through a rubber sleeve 22 distortion of which accommodates the movement of the stem. The piston-rod 5 of the brake piston closes the valve 16 by means of an arm 18 and spring 25 and opens the valve by engagement of the arm 18 with a collar 27 on the end of the valve stem. In a modification, a collar on the valve stem engages the rubber sleeve so that the valve is held off its seat by the resilience of the rubber sleeve which is distorted to allow the valve to close. The valve is also shown seating on a rubber seat and also a ball valve is shown operated by the flat end of a stem.
