Abstract

Class 99 (i) [Also in Group XXIX] A rotary conical plugvalve in which the plug 8 is hollow and screwed at its smaller end to receive a retaining nut 9 has a screwed closure plug 7 which may be threaded into a bore 4a of an inlet union 1 when the latter is applied to a pressure main from which a branch pipe is required, and withdrawn from the union into a threaded part of the plug 8, as shown, after the valve housing 5 has been screwed on to the union. To withdraw the plug 7 from the union a long screw is passed through the outer end of the conical plug into a threaded bore 7b of opposite hand to the external threads on the plug 7. After the latter has been screwed into the conical plug a shorter screw 14 is substituted for the long screw.
