Abstract

689,613. Door frames. AUSTIN, F. B. Jan. 11. 1952 [April 25, 1951], No. 9677/51. Class 20(iii) In a door frame of the " storey " type, that is of the type wherein the jambs extend between floor and ceiling and the head member of the door frame is secured between the jambs at door height giving a frame of " H " shape, each of the jambs is formed in two separate parts, a lower part extending from the floor to the head member and.an upper part extending from the head member to the ceiling. In the form shown, the frame 1 comprises two jambs 2 and 3 consisting of lower members 5 and 6 and upper members 12 and 13 respectively. The lower members are connected at door height'by a head member 4, this part of the frame being constructed, if desired, as described in Specification 689,603. The upper parts 12 and 13 are secured to parts 5 and 6 by glued mortice and tenon joints, as in Fig. 3, or by screwed joints, as in Fig. 4, the parts being made of less thickness than the jambs so that the plaster rendering 18 covering the surrounding wall blocks 16, 17 may extend continuously over the doorway.
