Abstract
635,117. Windows and doors for prefabricated buildings. CENTRAL CORNWALL CONCRETE & ARTIFICIAL STONE CO., Ltd., and TONKIN, R. H. March 24, 1948, No. 8679. [Class 20 (iii)] Walls of prefabricated buildings of the type described in Specification 613,438 are modified to accommodate window and door frames by providing uprights 1 and la Figs. 1 and 4 respectively with rabbets 7, 7a against which the window and door frames are secured. As shown in Fig. 1 in the case of a window the rabbet 7 is recessed at 8 to receive a sill 5 and below the sill the upright has grooves 3a to receive slabs to complete the wall. In the case of a door the rabbet extends down to the plinth course 15 which between the uprights 1a is given the shape of a door-step 16. A lintel 12 formed in two parts is arranged to bear on the upper ends of the uprights and is recessed as at 13 so that the window or door frame can be thrust into position after the lintel has been secured in position. The window or door frames are secured in position e.g. by wooden strips screwed to plugs driven into preformed plug holes 10, Fig. 1.
