Class 100(i) Sheet-separators.-A system of levers and links for actuating the suction members of a sheetseparator device is controlled by a coupling member, which is associated with pivoted members and driven by a crank, comprising two spaced-apart plates between which are pivoted a rocking lever, a crank rod, and a member which rocks about a fixed pivot. As shown, a sucker bar 29, on.which suckers 30 are mounted for separating sheets from a pile, is actuated at each side thereof by a link 14 connected to a rocking lever 13 pivoted about a fixed axis 7. A coupling member 11 is pivoted to the lever 13 at 6, to a member 12 at 4, and to a crank rod 10 at 3, and comprises spaced plates which embrace the crank rod, member 12, and lever 13, these plates being spaced apart by collars on the pivot pins. The crank rod 10 is also pivoted at 2 to a rotatable crank disc 9 mounted at 1. The member 12 can swing about a fixed pivot 5, and is connected at 16 to a link 17 adapted to rock a lever 18. The lever 18 is connected through an adjustment device 34 to a link 19 which rocks the bar 29 and so tilts the suckers 30. The bar 29 is raised and lowered by a lever 31 which has a roller 32 bearing on a cam plate 33 rotatable with the crank disc 9. The construction of the coupling member 11 and the arrangement of pivots is such that bending moments in the system are decreased, and the tendency in the system to self-oscillation at very high speeds is reduced.
