665,513. Feeding sheets. STAMMINGER, P. July 13 1949 [July 20, 1948], No. 18462/49. Class 100 (i). In a device for feeding sheets to a printing- machine the sheets 2 are each lifted from the top of a pile 1 by central suckers 3, 4 and carried thereby to feed-tapes 11, 12, 15, 16 on a feedtable 9, and inclined fixed guide plates 5, 6 are provided below the sheet at each side of the suckers to support the end portions of the sheet, the two lateral tape-conveying rollers 7, 8 being offset with respect to the central tape-conveying roller 10 to accommodate the guide plates. Rolls 13, 14 on oscillating arms 21 co-operate with the feed-tapes 11, 12 to feed the sheets. The suckers 3, 4 move together upward, forward, and backward, and are given a tilting movement. In front of the pile 1 there are two pairs of blowers 20, one set blowing air towards the pile to loosen the sheets, and the other pair blowing air under the separated sheet. Tubes 17, 18 carrying the guide plates 5, 6 also supply air to these plates which are perforated at 19 to supply streams of air under the sheet and towards the tape rollers.
