Abstract

685,203. Pipe joints. ELECTRO-HYDRAULICS, Ltd., and BURNS. R. H. Feb. 14, 1949 [Jan. 11. 1949], No. 782/49. Divided out of 685,200 [Group XXIX]. Class 99 (i) [Also in Group XXIX] The housing of a fluid control device, e.g. a restrictor plate 1, Fig. 1, having gauze 15 on either side of an orifice 14 and provided with a sealing ring 13, is provided with a tubular plug 5 frictionally fitting a bore in the housing and having an enlargement 7 seating in a flared end of the bore, and a conical end 9 for engagement by a flared end of a pipe to which the housing is connected by a coupling nut. The pipe and coupling nut, 4, 12, respectively, are shown in Fig. 2, in which the invention is applied to a shuttle valve having an outlet 18 communicable with either of inlets 16, 17, according to which is at the higher pressure. The two tubular plugs 5, one of which is shown with a sealing ring 23, serve as seats for the closure surfaces at each end of the slidable valve member 20.
