Abstract
The invention comprises organo-silicon compounds of the general formula <FORM:0684149/IV (b)/1> wherein each R is an alkyl or monocyclic aryl radical and X is a halogen atom, and a process for the preparation of the above compounds by reacting in the liquid phase an alkali metal and the compounds R2SiY2 and X1CH2SiRZ2, wherein R has the above significance, X1 is a halogen atom, each Y is an alkoxy radical or a halogen atom and each Z is an alkoxy radical, to form a compound of the general formula <FORM:0684149/IV (b)/2> wherein Z and R have the above significance, and reacting this compound with an acetyl halide. The preferred compounds are those in which each R is the methyl radical, but R may represent any alkyl radical up to the octadecyl radical and the phenyl, tolyl and xylyl radicals. The halogen atom X may be chlorine or bromine. In the example, a compound of the above general formula is prepared wherein X represents chlorine and R represents the methyl radical.
