Abstract
Organo siloxanes are prepared by the hydrolysis and condensation of compounds of the general formula R(R2SiCH2)xSiRY2, wherein each R is an alkyl or monocyclic aryl radical, each Y is an alkoxy radical or halogen atom, and x is 1 or 2.ALSO:The invention comprises organo silicon compounds of the formula R(R2SiCH2)xSiRY2, wherein each R is an alkyl or monocyclic aryl radical, each Y is an alkoxy radical or halogen atom, and x is 1 or 2, a method of preparation for the above compounds by reacting an alkali metal with compounds of the formula XCH2SiRY2 and R3Si(CH2SiR2)nX in the liquid phase, wherein each R is an alkyl or monocyclic aryl radical, each Y is an alkoxy radical or halogen atom, X is a halogen atom and n is 0 or 1, and a method of preparation for the compounds R3SiCH2SiRX2 by reacting a compound of the general formula X2RSiCH2SiRX2 in the liquid phase with a compound RMgX, wherein each R is an alkyl or monocyclic aryl radical and each X is halogen, the latter compound being employed in a proportion of between 1.5 and 2.5 mols. of the former. The group R may be from methyl to octadecyl, phenyl or tolyl. The group X may be chlorine or bromine. In the examples the following compounds are prepared: (CH3)3SiCH2SiCH3 (OC2H5)2, (CH3)2C6 H5SiCH2SiCH3(OC2H5)2, (CH3)3SiCH2SiCH3Cl2, Cl(CH3)2SiCH2Si(CH3)2Cl, and (CH3)3SiCH2Si (CH3)2CH2SiCH3(OC2 H5)2. In a further example the compound (CH3)3SiCH2SiCH3 (OC2H5)Cl is prepared by reacting (CH3)3SiCH2 SiCH3(OC2H5)2 with acetyl chloride. Speci fication 672,824 is referred to. Organo silicon compounds of the formula XR2SiCH2SiR2X, where R and X have the above significance, may be prepared by the method of Specification 624,551.ALSO:Foam inhibiting agents for aqueous systems containing organic materials comprise organo silicon compounds of the formula R(R2SiCH2)xSiRY2, wherein each R is an alkyl or monocyclic aryl radical, each Y is an alkoxy radical or halogen atom and x is 1 or 2.
