Abstract

683,975. Flushing water closets. HOWSON & SONS, Ltd., G., and HOWSON, G. July 9, 1951 [July 7, 1950]. No. 16975/50. Class 26. In a water-closet system with a siphonic double-trap discharge pipe in which the air between the traps is withdrawn during the flush by a suction pipe leading to the flushing pipe, the flushing pipe 11 is provided with a baffle or lip 20, of downwardly curved form, on the opposite side to that on which the suction pipe enters. The suction pipe 17 projects into the flushing pipe and is bent downwards, a cut-out 23 is provided in this bent portion, and the bore of the flushing pipe is reduced below the suction pipe inlet, as at 24, in order to increase the suction effect by increasing the turbulence in the flushing pipe.
