680,963. Casting concrete beams. INGLIS, R. A. April 6, 1951 [Nov. 10, 1950], No. 27541/50. Class 87 (ii). A concrete beam 3, Fig. 1, is cast between two already cast beams or between two mould members 1, 2, further beams 4, 5 then being cast between the beam 3, Fig. 2, and the two other beams or moulds 1, 2. Still further beams are then cast in a similar manner, using the already cast beams as mould parts. The invention is applied to beams of rectangular, triangular and various other symmetrical cross-sections. The mould parts 1, 2 are constructed of a number of formers 18, Fig. 5, supporting battens 22 which are protected by metal sheeting 23. The ends of the moulds are closed by boards 27, Fig. 9, between which the cast beams 3, 4, 5 &c. are held by means of the projecting ends of reinforcement rods 24 which extend through holes 26 and are engaged by clamps 29. Further holes 28 accommodate the ends of the reinforcement of the beams to be cast. T-shaped beams, Fig. 27, may be cast using hollow cores 41, 42 &c. which are attached to each other by means of pins 48 accommodated at either end in recesses in the cores. The pins are surrounded by tubes 49 which subsequently form passageways for electric cables, water pipes &c.
