679,239. Valve amplifying circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. Aug. 8, 1950 [Sept. 30, 1949], No. 19756/50. Class 40 (vi). In a circuit comprising a class B amplifier preceded by a D.C. amplifier and in which the supply voltages are obtained from a common source, effects on the output of the class B amplifier due to variations in the voltage supply are neutralized by suitably choosing the values of the resistances of the D.C. amplifier. In the circuit shown, the voltages U1, U2 of the D.C. amplifier and the H.T. voltage Uao of the class B amplifier are derived from a common source and the value of the resistance Ra or the effective resistance between the anode of V2 and earth is so chosen that a change in the supply voltage causing a change #v in the voltage Uao also causes a change 1/Á #v in the voltage Ug. The effective resistance between the anode of the valve V2 and earth may be adjusted by means of a parallel resistor or by applying negative feed-back to the valve (Fig. 3, not shown). The resistances may be such that in addition they compensate for the effects of changes of the supply potential of a further D.C. amplifier G1 connected between the valve V2 and the class B stage.
