Abstract

657,747. Valve amplifying circuits. DECCA RECORD CO., Ltd., and O'BRIEN, W. J. March 5, 1947, No. 6298. [Class 40 (vi)] The distortion introduced by the non-linear input grid voltage/anode current characteristic of a thermionic valve amplifier is compensated by applying a potential corresponding to the output to an electrode other than the input grid in such a way that the non-linear applied voltage/anode current of the said electrode renders the overall response linear. As shown, part of the output is fed back to the suppressor grid 6 of the valve 1. The feed-back path includes a resistor 7 and condenser 8 in series. The applied voltage/anode current characteristics of the control grid and suppressor grid are such that a substantially linear response is obtained. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the feed-back is taken from a tap on the anode load.
