667,812. Rotary pumps or engines. NAAM LOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP NEDERLANDSCHE VEREENIGDE SCHEEPSBOUW BUREAUX. Jan. 27, 1950. No. 2198/50. Class 110(ii). An eccentric rotor 4 has outwardly-sliding vanes 11 each in a slot 13 into which liquid is admitted from whichever adjacent working space is at the higher pressure. Fig. 1 shows one form in which ducts 14 connect a slot 13 with the working spaces on each side of a vane and a ball valve 15 closes that duct leading to the space at lower pressure. Springs 16 also are used to press the vanes outwards. Outer and inner casings 1, 2 have spaces between them which are under suction pressure under control of non-return valves 17, 18 to keep the pressure acting on a gland 6 at a minimum. An inner gland 5 is provided. For a pump, inlet and outlet ports 9, 10 communicate respectively with spaces 7, 8.
