Abstract
A heat resistant alloy has the following composition: Ni 20-60 per cent, Cr 16-28 per cent, Mo 4-20 per cent, C up to 0.2 per cent, Mn traces up to 3.0 per cent, Si O-2.5 per cent, Ti up to 3.0 per cent when silicon is present, Fe being the remainder with not more than 1.0 per cent of impurities, the alloy being precipitation hardened and having the following relation among its components: 1/2 [per cent Mo + 0.8 times per cent Cr + 0.75 times per cent Mn + 1.2 times per cent Si + 1.6 times per cent Ti - 0.25 times per cent Ni - 1.5] is 8 per cent to 11 per cent. The alloy may be quenched from between 1000 DEG C and 1300 DEG C and then aged at a temperature between 700 DEG C and 1000 DEG C. The ageing temperature is preferably at least 200 DEG below the quenching temperature. Specifications 508,710, 531,466, 583,162, 583,212 and 583,845 are referred to.
