Abstract
665,305. Rollerway conveyers. DUNGLER, J. March 17, 1949. [March 24, 1948; July 27, 1948] Nos. 7351/49 and 7352/49. Class 78 (i). [Also in Group XIII] A conveyer, particularly for conveying a flat flexible product through a treating machine which treats it at its full width. consists of two groups of conveying and supporting members, the first group of which is formed by rotary members which are spaced, on stationary transverse axes, along the path of the product to be treated and are arranged to contact the product so as to impart a longitudinal translatory movement thereto, whereas the second group is formed by members which extend from end to end of the conveyer, parallel to the path of the product, and are spaced across said path, said members being located at such distance from the product as not to come into contact therewith during normal operation, but so as to support said product temporarily if the latter breaks. Fig. 2. A plurality of endless cables 17, 18 extend along the conveying path below the top and above the bottom surfaces respectively of the rollers 11 and 12, being accommodated in grooves 16 therein, which are of a depth greater than the diameter of the cables. The cables serve to drive the rollers in addition to guiding the material and at the ends of the conveyer are passed over pulleys 19 and 20, and thence over driving rollers 21, 22, 24 and 25 from which they pass back to the other end of the conveyer. Said driving rollers are driven by bevel gearing from a shaft 30. Fig. 5. The endless cables are replaced by cables 32, 33 which are fixed at one end to frame 1 and do not engage the rollers but are tensioned at the other end by means of springs 41 and 42. Rollers 13, 14 in this case have either grooves of adequate depth not to foul the cables or are composed of separate sections, Fig. 7. The rollers are driven separately and may be staggered.
