Abstract

640,014. Endless-belt conveyers. VICARS, Ltd., T and T., and CROSLAND, E. M. June 5, 1947, No. 14865. [Class 78 (i)] In a conveyer in which biscuits are conveyed from one level to another between a pair of belts which are guided in a smooth curved path by a plurality of closely-spaced parallel rollers, each roller is formed of a number of spaced discs on a common shaft. Biscuits are fed from a belt 47 to a belt 48 between co-operating belts 49, 57 which pass around a curved guide constituted by rollers 67, 70, 73 ... , each comprising a number of spaced discs mounted on shafts 68, 71, 74 ... ; these shafts being spaced from one another by a distance less than the disc diameters. The discs which are either formed or covered with resilient material are staggered with those on the adjacent shafts and are positively-driven by a driving belt 76 which engages pulleys 69, 72, 75 .... The input shaft 50 of gearing 60 drives belt 76 synchronously with rollers 58, 51 which drive conveyer belts 57, 49 respectively.
