657,856. Transformers and inductances. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. March 14, 1949, No. 6930. Convention date, March 17, 1948. [Class 38 (ii)] In a magnetic core built of strip laminations arranged in the direction of the grain to obtain the most favourable magnetization, each strip comprises an inner and outer section 1, 2, disposed in parallel relationship with the adjacent laminations of the outer sections provided with mitred joints 3 displaced from the normal diagonal, and adjacent laminations of the inner sections provided with at least two butt joints 4 to ensure more equitable flux distribution in the strips, and with the remaining joints 5 also mitred and displaced from the normal diagonal. The core is built up with alternate layers of the laminations flipped over or rotated through 180 degrees to avoid the joints being coincident.
