Abstract

656,007. Paper and like bags. PAPER SACKS, Ltd. Dec. 22, 1948, No. 33027. [Class 94(ii)] The mouth.of a valve sleeve in a heavy duty paper sack is provided with a pair of transverse self-adhesive bands, one or each of which faces interiorly of the sleeve, and also with flap means adapted to be folded interiorly of the sleeve to prevent sealing thereof before the bag is filled, and to be unfolded outwardly, or unfolded outwardly and refolded, for bringing the self-adhesive bands together. In Fig. 5, a flap 4a, provided with a band 4c, is foldable either within the sleeve 4 to protect the band, or outwardly to bring the band into contact with a band 4d disposed externally of the sleeve. In a modification, Fig. 9, the band 4d is covered, prior to sealing, by a contiguous uncoated flap 5 which is subsequently folded within the sleeve. In a further modification, Fig. 13, the bands are disposed face to face and are protected by uncoated, inwardly folded flaps. In yet a further modification, the end of the sleeve is folded inwardly to form a protecting collar for a continuous band of adhesive. Specifications 443,950 and 527,268 are referred to.
