Abstract
655,919. Fountain pens. WINTER, A. Oct. 25, 1948, No. 27735. [Class 146 (iii)] A fountain pen has an inner feed bar 40 comprising a solid member having a slot 43 at the front end to engage the shank of a nib 22 and an outer feed member 30 receiving and covering the major portion of the inner feed bar, the outer feed member 30 having a slot 35 extending through one wall thereof and communicating with the inner feed bar 40. The member 30 has an open section 34 which accommodates excess ink, while grooves 37 and 38 are provided to serve as ink storage spaces. A nib section 17, having a reduced portion at its rear end engaging an ink sac 16, encloses the feed bar 40 and outer feed member 30 and has an aperture 21 through which the nib 22 projects. The member 30 and feed bar 40 may be made of plastic, hard rubber, or other suitable material, but the feed bar is preferably made of stainless steel.
