Abstract

655,001. Jib cranes. RUSTON-BUCYRUS, Ltd. Aug. 20, 1948, No. 22019. Convention date, Dec. 15, 1947. [Class 78 (iv)] [Also in Group XXI] A crane boom 12, particularly for dragline excavators, is pivotally mounted on a base 11 and suspended by members 17 and guys 16 connected to tension members 13. These members 13 are supported from a frame 15 by ropes 14 which when adjusted serve to raise or lower the boom. For all positions of the boom, the upper end of the member 13 lies below a straight line joining the point of attachment of the ropes 14 to the frame 15 and that of the guys 16 to the outer end of the boom. The members 13 may be pivotally mounted on the frame 15 instead of on the boom. The hoist rope 18 passes over pulleys 21, 20 to a winch 19.
