'[Class 18] The tray and shell of a tray-and-shell box are provided with tabs which interengage to prevent the complete withdrawal of the tray from the shell. The shell is formed from a blank of cardboard ox the like, into a rectangular tube and is closed at one end by end flaps 11, 16, 17 and at the other end is provided with tabs 21 extending from the side walls and which are inturned to project towards the Closed end of the shell. The tray, also formed from a blank of cardboard or like material, has sides and ends foldable up from a central base portion 22, each end of the tray comprising inturned extensions of the side walls over which end walls 30, 42 are folded and retained in position by tongues on the end walls engaging slots 32, 47 in the crease line between the end walls and base portion, or by stapling or glueing. One tongue 44 may be extended to serve as means for removing the tray from the shell. Alternatively in the case of stapling or glueing the tongue 44 may be cut out of the end wall. Tabs 35 extend from the side edges of the end wall 30 and are folded substantially flush with the side walls 25, 26. The tray is inserted in the shell with the end tabs 35 innermost so that upon the action of withdrawing of the tray the tabs 35 and 21 interengage and prevent its complete withdrawal. In a further arrangement two shells each closed at one end may enclose the tray from opposite ends tabs being provided at each end of the tray to interengage with tabs on the shells to prevent their complete removal. The ends of the tray may be formed by folding over a flap 54 attached to one side wall 25, Fig. 8, and folding inwardly a flap 56 having a tongue 58 to close the end, a flap 60 projecting from the flap 54 projecting into the base corner of the box to add rigidity to the end of the tray.
