Abstract
507,925. Boxes. BURDITT, H., and RIGID CONTAINERS, Ltd. Dec. 23, 1937, No. 35629. [Class 18] A box of cardboard &c. is made from a single blank comprising a central base portion with integral flaps extending from each side, and these flaps are folded up to provide an inner polygonal or curved liner 4a, 4b, 17, Fig. 3, sides 3, and incomplete sides 3a. The parts 4b, 17 of the liner are side extensions of the flaps 4a. The various parts are secured in the set-up position by stapling &c., and ventilation of the contents is provided through the gaps below the sides 3a, the spaces 21 between the liner and the sides of the box, and gaps 22 which are formed between the flaps 4b and the lid of the box by making the flaps 4b shorter than the adjacent flaps 4a. Notches 19 in the liner facilitate aligning of the sides 3a. A lid is formed from a cruciform blank modified to give sloping sides 26, Fig. 8, over the sides 3a of the body so that, when boxes are stacked, they are kept apart to permit circulation of air. The lid may, however, be hinged.
