[Class 136 (i)] A control lever mechanism of the kind adapted to be set in any one of two or more positions comprises interengaging pawl and ratchet members, one of which members 27 is slidable, angularly movable and spring urged into engagement with the other member 10, and a control lever 23 pivoting about a stationary axis 21 and adapted to co-operate with the movable member 27. As shown in Fig. 1, the member 10 is a base plate formed with a slot 15 having ratchet teeth 16, 17 and a cam surface 18. The control lever 23 is formed with a collar 25 having an abutment face 26 and rotatably mounted on a pivot pin 21 projecting from the plate 10. The pawl member 27 has a slot 28 loosely embracing the collar 25 and provided with a shoulder 29 to engage the face 26 to enable disengagement of a pawl tooth 30 from a ratchet tooth 16 or 17. The pawl member 27 has a lug 31 against which an edge of the lever 23 abuts to effect displacement of the pawl against the action of a spring-loaded cable 14. In a modification (Fig. 7) the control lever is provided with a pin 42 to engage a slot 41 in the pawl member. In a further modification (Fig. 8) the stationary base plate 10 has a tooth 30 engaging ratchet teeth in a slot formed in the member 27.
