Abstract

'[Class 38(v)] The contact-carrying lever 20 of a switch is urged by a spring 19 against an abutment 21 and a dolly 26, whose movement is limited by parts 29, 30 of a bracket 25. Upon movement of the dolly to its other position, the lever 20 pivots about the abutment 21 into engagement with the contacts 13, 14. In this position, Fig. 4, the lever 20 pivots about the lower end 28 of the dolly which is so positioned that the distance x is greater than y so as to increase the contact pressure due to spring 19. To ensure opening of the switch, a link 31 may couple the end 28 of the dolly to the lever, or. an inverted T-shaped piece of the dolly may project through a slot in the dolly to engage the underside thereof.
