Abstract
641,804. Revolving cylinder pumps. DOWTY EQUIPMENT, Ltd. June 24, 1947, No. 16683. [Class 102(i)] [Also in Group XXVI] In a revolving radial-cylinder pump, each piston 19 is reciprocated by a slipper 21 engaging an eccentric track 22; each slipper is attached to its piston by a pin 34 and part spherical socket 35 as described in Specification 641,806. To prevent wear of the piston and cylinder due to tilting of the piston by rubbing engagement of the slipper on the track, liquid pressure is applied to localized areas that are spaced apart and in the example illustrated, the pressure is transmitted from the cylinder through port 30 in the piston and also through groove 32 and port 31. Alternatively, the port 30 could be extended 'to replace the provision of port 31 or the port 30 could be replaced by a further port in the cylinder body leading to the same area.
