Abstract

677,631. Reciprocating pumps. SCHWEIZERISCHE INDUSTRIE-GES. Jan. 16, 1948 [Feb. 5, 1947], No. 1449/48. Class 102 (i) In apparatus for delivering variable amounts of liquid, a number of delivery-devices each including pistons in cylinders are arranged around a cylinder block B that surrounds a rotary sleeve valve 1. Each delivery device comprises two pistons 22, 24, with a rod 23 between them, operating in cylinders 10, 17. Liquid under pressure is delivered by the pump 2. In the position shown in Fig. 1, liquid under pressure is delivered through port 8 to the right-hand side of piston 22 and through port 15 to the righthand side of piston 24 and liquid is delivered from the left-hand side of piston 24 through port 18 to groove 20 and outlet 21 the lefthand side of piston 22 is connected to exhaust port 14 through port 11 and groove 13. When the sleeve 1 has turned through 180 degrees, as shown in Fig. 2, liquid under pressure is delivered through the port 25 to the left-hand side of piston 24 and through port 261 to the left-hand side of piston 22 and liquid is delivered from the right-hand side of piston 22 through port 9, groove 28 to the outlet 21, the right-hand side of piston 24 is connected to exhaust through port 16 and groove 13. The stroke of the pistons is limited by a stop 30 adjusted by a wheel C. The pump 2 may deliver to pipe 5 and the pipes 5 and 21 may be controlled by a piston 32 subjected to pressures in each pipe. A different liquid may be pumped to that which may be used to apply pressure.
