In a bucket pump, the rod 7 carrying the bucket 12 has a central bore communicating through hole 15 with the delivery side of the bucket and the upper end of the bore is closed by a screwed plug 14, or a spring cap, which can be removed for the introduction of liquid to prime the pump.
