Abstract

637,219. Sliding seats. FREESTONE, V. E. April 23, 1948, No. 11296. [Class 52 (ii)] In a sliding seat of the kind in which a seat frame is arranged to slide in a pair of runners secured to a fixed support and in which a latch is provided whereby the seat frame may be adjusted by means of the latch engaging a selected hole or tooth arranged on one or both of the runners a shield is provided for masking all the holes &c. except the preselected one whereby, after being moved, it can only be latched in the originally selected position. As shown a pair of channels 11. 12 comprise the runners in which the seat frame 31 slides by means of pairs of rollers 42. One of the channels is provided with a series of holes 23 adapted to be engaged by a plunger 32 of a spring-pressed latch 35 and a shield comprising a plate 25 is adjustably arranged within the runner so that its one aperture registers with the selected hole 23. The plate 25 is held in position by a screw 27 which passes through the plate into an abutment 47 which serves as a nut and also as an abutment for the front roller when the seat arrives at locking position. Anti-rattling springs may be provided.
