[Class 126] A combined gas and solid fuel burning cooking stove comprises a lower or basic section constructed to form a solid fuel burning stove, an upper removable section which forins a gas stove, and means whereby the gas section can be removed only when the gas supply system is shut-off. As described such a stove comprises a gas stove 2, Fig. 1, fitted with the usual gas rings and burners 14 detachably placed on the top plate 4 of a solid fuel section 1. The gas supply is carried by the basic section 1 and is located at the back of the stove together with the usual gas taps 16. The taps have shaped ends 21, Fig. 4, which are engaged by members 22 on the ends of the controls 20 the controls passing through slots 23 in the rigid back wall 17 of the stove such slots being so arranged that the control members 20 can only be withdrawn when the gas taps are in a closed position. The basic solid fuel burning section has a grate 3, Fig. 1, heating top plate 4 and a flue 5 branched by the damper 8, one branch 6 passing around water heater 9 before connecting with the chimney 11 through aperture 10, the other branch 7 passing around the oven 12 before connecting through an opening 13 with the flue 6. This basic section is provided with food warming cabinets 28, fuel drying drawer 29 and a recess 30 for storing the removable gas section 2 when not in use. Provision may be made for heating the water heater 9 by gas and according to the Provisional Specification the oven 12 may be heated by gas and provided with a thermometer and thermostat.
