[Class 108 (iii)] [Also in Groups XXVI and XXXVIII] In a sound-film apparatus, variations in the rotary motion of a drum over which the film passes are damped by means comprising a shaft mounted between very low friction bearings and carrying a fly-wheel fixed rigidly thereon, and a bearing race on the shaft to carry the drum. Additional fluid coupling between the drum and fly-wheel may be obtained by the addition of lubricant in the bearing race.
