632,681. Broaching. CLEVELAND STEEL PRODUCTS CORPORATION. Feb. 19, 1947, No. 4809. Convention date, Feb. 21, 1946. [Class 83 (iii)] A broaching-machine has a stack of internally-toothed broaches 6 spaced by discs 14 which form cooling spaces between the broaches and have inlet and discharge openings for coolant. The broaches and spacing discs are held in a counterbore of a holder 1 by a screwed clamp and guide plug 11, and are registered by bars 26, 27 secured to them in diametricallyopposite grooves; one bar 27 may also be received in a groove 29 in the holder. Coolant delivered through passages 20, 18 in the holder is directed tangentially into the cooling space by inlet ports 17 in the spacing discs and, together with cuttings, is discharged through elongated openings 15, 16 in the discs and holders into an annular space formed by a shield 23.
