522,346. Cooling cylinders. UNITED AIRCRAFT CORPORATION. March 10, 1939, No. 7794. Convention date, April 19, 1938. [Class 7(ii)] In a cylinder jacket, preferably of a sleevevalve engine, cooling liquid is directed through the spaces between a ring of ports 30, 32 by inclined guides 42, 44. At irregular ports, where stagnant liquid is liable to collect, gaps 72 are left at the end of the guides to produce auxiliary currents. The cooling liquid enters and leaves the jacket by tangential pipes 38, 40.
