Abstract

630,052. Seats. CHAPMAN, Ltd., A. W., and WILLETT, D. G. Sept. 15, 1947, No. 25227. [Class 52 (ii)] A vehicle seat is carried at one end by bellcrank levers, one pivotally mounted on each side of the seat and operable to raise or lower that end. As shown the seat 1 is provided at each side with a U-shaped tubular frame 2 to which at the rear end a bell-crank lever 4 is pivoted the lower arm 4a of the lever being pivoted to a slide 5 while the upper arm 4b is connected to the upper arm on the other side of the seat by a tie rod 7. Pivoted also at each side to the upper arm 4b is an arm 8 connected to a rod 10 adapted to screw into a screwed sleeve and rotatable by a handle at the front of the seat to rock the bell-crank levers 4 to tilt the seat as required. The front end of each frame member 2 is slidable in a slot 12. The slides 5 operate in guides 6 and may be locked thereto by a catch lever 13 the end 14 of which is adapted to enter a selected notch 15 in the guide 6.
