627,394. Drying apparatus. KEMPE, I. T. Sept. 11, 1947, No. 24926. [Class 34(ii)] [Also in Group XXX] A drying apparatus for fibrous materials comprises a casing a which is divided longitudinally by a vertical wall c, another wall c' of less height further subdividing one half of the interior to provide two chambers d, d'. Flue gases from a furnace e are delivered into outer chamber d and blown into the inner one d' by a fan f. The other half a' of the casing contains two conveyers h, h' arranged in series, the material being fed in one end through a hopper h<SP>2</SP> on to the bottom of the first conveyer h and being discharged dry from the top of the second conveyer h<SP>1</SP>, the hot gases blown by the fan f passing upward through the conveyers which are composed of a number of woven wire trays mounted on parallel bars linked at their extremities to form chains.
