Abstract

1427746 Pneumatic conveying dryers HAZEMAG DR E ANDREAS KG 18 May 1973 [3 July 1972] 23710/73 Heading F4G Particulate material is conveyed up a vertical duct 1 by hot drying gases and discharged into a classifying chamber 9 of wider cross-section than the duct and closed at its upper end, the chamber communicating with a first off-take duct 5 surrounding the duct 1 and a second off-take duct 7 surrounding the duet 5, the duct 5 being adjustable at its upper end which defines a cylindrical chamber. Wet feed enters the duct 1 via a gas lock 4 and rises to the top of the duct by the hot gases from a generator 2 drawn by a suction fan 3. A double-walled sleeve 12, providing the adjustable part of the duct 5 is held by a cable or rod 13. Since the upper edges of the duct 5 is higher than that of the duct 1, the particles which are dried more than a certain amount, being lighter, pass over the sleeve 12 and enter the duct 7 passing through to a separator 11 for discharge through a lock 14. The heavier, wetter particles fall back down the duct 5 to be recycled. Sleeve height variation varies the minimum " dryness " of the particles passing over the sleeve 12 for discharge.
