Abstract
627,186. Road vehicle undercarriages. FORD MOTOR CO., Ltd. Aug. 1, 1947, No. 20949. Convention date, Aug. 1, 1946. [Class 108 (ii)] [Also in Groups XXIV and XXXI] In a vehicle having an adjustable dirigible wheel tread width, the steering box has on each side an offtake shaft 11 with a drop arm 10, said shafts having non-coincident axes. Secured to the front axle 18 are radius rods 20 attached to the frame by ball joints at points 22 directly opposite each other and in the same vertical plane, when the wheels are set for straight travel as drag links 12, but with the rear ends 13 of the drag links longitudinally displaced from the rear ends of the radius rods 20. The drag links 12 are connected to the king pins 17 through links 14. On rotation of the steering column, shafts 11 rotate in opposite directions to move both wheels the same way.
