Abstract

626,556. Spring forks. BOUTHILLIER, D. May 22, 1947, No. 13744. [Class 136 (iii)!] In a spring suspension for the front wheel of a bicycle the front wheel axle has fitted a lever to one end of which by means of a link the front wheel fork is connected and to the other end is pivotally connected an auxiliary fork having cushioning springs between the fork and frame. As shown in Fig. 1, the wheel axle 2 has mounted on either side a lever 3 to one end of which through a link 4 is pivotally connected the fork 6 and to the other end is pivotally connected an auxiliary fork 16 having cushioning springs 20 between the fork and frame. The upper ends of the fork pass through a plate 13 bolted to a bracket 12 on the steering head and the spring 20 is compressed between a collar 19 and the plate 13. The link 4 is in surface contact with the lever 3.
