Abstract
463,641. Vehicle spring-suspensions. VILLIERS, C. H. Oct. 3, 1935, No. 27278. Convention date, Oct. 8, 1934. [Class 108 (ii)] A vehicle suspension for single wheels comprises the axle carried at the ends of two spring arms through resilient or cushioning members. A flange 4 integral with a housing 5 is secured by bolts 6 to the transverse members 3 of the frame 1. A vertical spindle 7 passes through the housing 5 and has at its lower end a transverse member 9 on the ends of which spring saddles 10 are formed to which springs 10 are secured forming a spring fork. At the other ends of the springs rubber bushes 15 are positioned within the spring eye which bushes surround the reduced ends 17 of the wheel axle washers 19, 20 and nuts 22 being provided to compress the bushes axially. Friction or resistance means are provided in the housing. 5 to restrain castoring by the wheel. In another form the wheel mounting is not adapted to swivel the ends of the springs being mounted on spring saddles secured to longitudinal members of the frame.
