Abstract
820,782. Equalizing load on wheels. JINKS, G. S. April 30, 1957 [Jan. 30, 1956; Feb. 26, 1957], Nos. 6391/57 and 6390/57. Divided out of 820,781. Class 108(2) [Also in Group XXX] A frame for a side-loading fork lift truck comprises a longitudinal part 90, Fig. 5. and two transverse parts 107 mounted on four wheels 103 on axles 94 pivoted about longitudinal shafts 95. The two wheels nearest the frame 90 are interconnected through bell cranks 99, pivoted at 98 and 100, with depending arms below the pivots 100 connected by a link 102, so that as one wheel is raised the other is lowered. In an alternative construction (not shown) the shafts 94 extend only as far as the pivots 95, the two wheels farthest from the frame 90 being mounted direct to the frame without springing. In this case the pivots 95 may be nearer to the frame 90. In another embodiment, Fig. 2, the lefthand wheel 12 is carried in a frame 35 mounted for vertical movement relative to a bracket 68 on the truck frame on two pairs of arms 63, 64, each arm 64 operating the plunger 77 of a hydraulic cylinder 73 pivoted to the truck frame at 76, and the pair of cylinders 73 being connected to similar cylinders on the corresponding wheel so that as one wheel goes up, the other goes down. The right-hand wheel in Fig. 2 has no vertical movement relative to the frame. All four wheels may be steered in pairs as described in Specification 820,781.
