Abstract

626,374. Firearms. CESKA ZBROJOVKA, NARODNI PODNIK, MALINA, J., POLANKA, V., and KRATOCHVIL, J. Jan. 28, 1947, No. 2605. Convention date, Aug. 8, 1945. [Class 92 (ii)] An automatic or a self-loading firearm is so constructed that upon firing a round and whilst the breech bolt is still closed a gas piston device moves forwards against the action of an energy storage device, such as a spring 17, to stress breech bolt and striker mechanisms, the energy of the storage device being subsequently used to open the breech together with its stressed mechanisms and to eject the cartridge case. In the construction shown, the pulling of the trigger depresses a sear 11, thus releasing the striker 10 which flies forwards under the action of a spring 8 to strike the cartridge N1. A part of the gases of explosion pass through a port 14 into a cylinder 15 to drive forwards a hollow piston 16 against the action of its spring 17. The piston is connected by a rod or rods 9 to a member 2 which is carried forwards against the action of a spring 7 until it latches with the breech block 1. In this movement both the breech bolt'spring 7 and the striker spring 8 are compressed. When the shot has left the barrel the spring 17 asserts itself and drives the parts 1, 2, 16 to the. rear. At the end of this stroke a projecting part 4b of the guide rod 4 of spring 7 strikes the wall 6 of the gun and thus enables the latch 3 to release the breech-block 1 which moves to the breech-closing position firstly under the action of springs 7 and 8 and subsequently, when the striker is held by the sear 11, under the action of spring 7 alone.
