Abstract

314,320. Lahti, A. J., and Saloranta, A. E. March 23, 1928. Breech actions, sliding barrel and breech-block. -Relates to an automatic gun of the short-recoil type in which the breech-block 5 is opened by an accelerator 25 on the barrel-extension 6, the return of the barrel-extension being restrained by a latch 10<b> released only when the breech is closed, and the gun being fired before the barrel has reached its extreme forward position. According to the invention, the hammer 18 is released to strike the firing pin x by an incline 16a on the bolt-restoring spring-pressed tube 16. On firing, and after the run-out momentum has been absorbed, the barrel-extension and breech-block recoil together until the locking lever 8 is released by the inclined groove 9<a>, when the breechblock moves rearwards alone, the catch 10<b> dropping behind the shoulder 9b to retain the barrelextension. The breech-block, through the tube, 16, compresses the spring 13 and is retained by the sear 12, the hammer 18 being at the same time cocked against the action of a spring 14 by a catch 19. The return movement of the breechblock then lifts the latch 10b, and enables the latch 8 to lock the breech-block to the barrelextension, the hammer-latch 19 being released by the incline 16<a> to fire the gun.
