[Class 44] The sliding bolt F, Fig. 3, of a lock e.g. for an attache-case is blocked against retraction by a radial projection e<SP>3</SP> on a rotatable locking plate E adapted to engage behind the head f of the bolt. The locking plate is rotatably mounted on the reduced portion of a bush D rotatably carried in openings in the front and back walls of the casing. The bush is formed with radial slots d<SP>4</SP> to allow the insertion of the parallel tongues c<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 2, of a key C. The opening in the front plate A of the casing has diametral slots a<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 4, to pass the projections c<SP>2</SP> of the key. The opening in the locking plate E has similar slots e<SP>1</SP> for engagement by the ends of the tongues c<SP>1</SP> whereby it may be turned to or from the locking position. The plate is retained in its extreme positions as determined by stops b<SP>5</SP>, Fig. 3, by a spring detent g engaging notches e2 in the periphery of the plate. The back plate B of the case is also formed with diametral slots to engage the end and prevent rotation of an incorrect key in the case when the key is too long. The bolt is urged to the shot position by a spring H and retracted by a knob on the bolt projecting through a slot in the front of the case.
