Abstract

615,359. Sliding-clasp fasteners. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., TROBRIDGE, G. W., and BAWCUTT, P. J. July 26, 1946, No. 22247. [Class 44] In a sliding-clasp fastener designed to be fluid-tight, U-sha,pe interlocking fastener elements 2 are secured to strips 1. of resilient water-proof material with the open jaws outwards so that the edge of the strip 1 projects slightly beyond the centre line of the interlocking elements. Preferably, the elements are located on the strips 1 by inserting them through apertures, and bending them over to grip the material, the interlocking parts, in the form of depressions 2d and projections 2c being formed on the jaws of the elements, and the opening between the jaws being V-shaped. A bead 1a may be formed on one or both sides of the strip 1.
