Abstract

611,848. Hatches. MAcGREGOR, J. May 10, 1946, No. 14182. [Class 113 (i)] . A flush-type hatch construction in a deck 4 comprises a sunken coaming 3 having shelving 2 provided with coping 7 which beds into packing 10 carried in an inverted channel member 13 on the hatch cover 1. The cover side 12 abuts the upper face 6 of the shelving thus limiting the compression of the packing 10. Additional packings 31 may also be provided as shown. The cover carries rollers 16 eccentrically mounted on an axle 18 so that the cover can be raised to free the coping 7 from the packing and to be wholly supported by the rollers 16.
